Saniderm and Derm Shield

Leave the Saniderm bandage on for 3-5 days. You may shower, work out, and generally go about your daily life with the bandage, but still avoid swimming in the pool, the river, the ocean, or any other large bodies of germy water. Also avoid direct sunlight or any clothing that is tight or rubs against the fresh tattoo. No saunas or long baths either, showering is totally fine, but you don’t want to submerge or soak the tattoo for any extended period.

Blood, plasma and a small amount of ink may pool under the bandage and the tattoo and lines may start to look fuzzy or blurry. DON’T PANIC, this is totally normal, and your tattoo is fine.

If there is an excessive amount of fluid, and the tattoo is submerged remove the bandage and refer to the “Plan B” aftercare instructions.

If any redness occurs, particularly around the edge of the bandage, and you suspect you are having a reaction to the adhesive, remove the bandage and refer to the “Plan B” aftercare instructions immediately.

To remove the bandage, place the bandage under running water (or in the shower if that is easier) and gently peel back a top corner and allow the water to get underneath. Continue peeling the bandage off super slowly (so slowly that its annoying).

If the saniderm has come off partially, revealing a portion of the tattoo, or the fluid has all leaked out of the bandage, remove the saniderm completely.

Wash your newly revealed tattoo with warm water and a plain unscented anti-bacterial soap. Then gently pat dry with a clean paper towel.

Leave the tattoo alone for the rest of the day. It may begin to peel or flake similar to a sunburn, the peeley bits with be black and any other colors used in your tattoo, this is also totally normal. Do not pick at or scratch your new tattoo, no matter how much it itches.

Apply a very small amount of a plain white unscented lotion, such as fragrance free Curel or Lubriderm. Anything without a fragrance or perfume, or any dye. Use the lotion twice a day until your tattoo is completely healed.

DO NOT USE Bactine, Hydrogen Peroxide, rubbing alcohol, or neosporin. All you need is a basic unscented lotion, nothing else.

After two weeks, once your tattoo is completely healed, to preserve the life of your new tattoo use spf 15 or higher sunscreen whenever exposed to direct sunlight.
